When I woke up this morning, the first scripture on my mind was:

Luke 21:36
"Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."

I'm a split personality concerning this tension in the Middle East. I'm excited, because I know it means my Lord's coming is near. I'm also a bit scared, because I care too much for the things of this life. I think that I'm like that because I have five children. I would like for them to grow up in peace and prosperity, not wartime.

I really do want to escape what is about to happen. What will happen? Just about anything seems possible to me. China is threatening Taiwan. China also has 24 nuclear ICBM's and they have threatened to eliminate Los Angeles from the American map twice already. Tension is so high in the Middle East that one wrong twitch from the Arabs could unleash an Israeli pre-emptive nuclear strike. What if Mossad (Israeli CIA) reports to Barak that some Iraqi scud missiles are being fueled. Are we sure that Saddam Hussein does not have nuclear warheads? Are the Israeli's sure? Can they take the chance. I bet no. The same can be said for a twitch from Syria or Egypt. One wrong move and we could be in WW3.

I was recalling December 7, 1941. Americans got up and went to church: at peace. When they left church, they were at war. It happens that quickly.

What are we to do? How are we to escape? How will we be found worthy?

Well, first of all, we are told to pray. We can all do that. We are told to watch. Watch what? Well, watch unto prayer, for one.

How do we do that? Sit at the Lord's feet, even when he isn't saying anything.

Right now, and I say this is what the Lord is saying, not me. The Lord is speaking from his throne and there is no delay: it happens immediately. If we are going to have war, he is going to speak it and within a few hours, we are going to be at World War. The contrary is also true. It may look like we are going to have war, but if the Lord says, "Peace, be still", to the Princes over the nations, we will have no war.

Sit at the Lord's feet. Wait for him to speak. When times get this tense and the realm of the spirit gets this agitated, we need to be still. Be still, and know that he is God. He is sovereign and in charge. Especially now.

Those of us who are watchmen are on alert status right now. There are no leaves being granted. No excuses suffice. We are to be at our posts: watching.

I need to be still, and let God love me, I need to be still, and let God love me
When this old world weighs down upon me, I need to be still, and let God love me
When my burden get's too heavy and I need a place to rest
When I know that I'm failing, even though I've done my best
When decisions get too heavy, there are answers that I need
I know I must be still and let God love me, I need to be still, and let God love me.
