Dear WPA and other readers:

We read in God's word that God is involved in famines. In some places, God sends the famine; in other places, God informs a prophet that a famine is coming.

Joseph was told a famine was coming, and he moved to prepare.

Elijah was told by the Lord to prophesy that there would be no rain, and so it was. A famine resulted, which usually occurs after a drought, and the Lord fed Elijah by Raven. Yum, Yum...raven food.

Amos was warned that the day would come when there would be a famine of hearing the word of the Lord.

Agabus warned that severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world, which, by the way, was also the entire Christian world at that time in Acts 11:28.

God first spoke to me about the coming famine of hearing the word of the Lord in April, 1992, during a fast of forty days. When that word came, I expected the arrival of it to be quickly realized.

Now, here we are, ten years to the very month from the going forth of that prophecy, and we find ourselves in the midst of it, and it is a world wide famine. Haven't you noticed?

We have all experienced personal "dry times", when we have done something to drift away from God.

Most of us have experienced times as members of churches where the entire church went dry. Some people, in that dry time, were tempted to wander off in search of more spiritual food.....they said "we're not being fed". I suppose they went away, and found someplace where the spiritual meal was more to their liking. They simply could not wait the dry time out.

In such cases, I have noticed one common thing: that church is always stronger and better off to be rid of those people who jump ship during a dry time. The unity is stronger among those who remain. They endured a bit of a crisis together, and they know they will hold together when the next crisis comes, for, crisis will always come around.

Now, we are in a world wide famine of hearing the word of the Lord. I've been warning about it for ten years. There are several articles and discussions about it in these archives. A search string of "famine AND hearing AND God" will yield a great many articles where we have talked about it. You could look at message 3178 (Bening) or 3347 (Silbernagle) as examples.

This famine is very similar, in the Spirit, to the one Agabus foretold about in natural. Note that the famine of Agabus was to affect the whole Roman world. No matter where one ran, to or fro, one found famine. Such is the case today in the Spirit. Undoubtedly, some will travel this planet, by jet or internet, to see if this is the case. I tell you it is so by the Spirit of God. It has set in quite firmly.

My advice in this hour is this: the Lord is saying BE STILL. Running to and fro and raising a ruckus is not going to help anyone or anything. Remember the HALT principle. Watch yourself when you become too hungry, angry, lonely or tired.

Fishermen, when there are no fish, tend toward fighting. With fishers of men, it is no different. It is very easy to get into a fight these days, and difficult to restrain oneself once the waters have broken through the dam. Remember this proverb:

"HE THAT IS SLOW TO ANGER IS BETTER THAN THE MIGHTY; AND HE THAT RULETH HIS SPIRIT THAN HE THAT TAKETH A CITY." Prov 16:32.

So, be very careful in this hour. Call out to God every day that He might fill you with His Spirit, so that you might have His peace, His patience, His forbearance and His self control, for you are going to need it. You are going to be provoked! Rejoice!

It is going to be very easy to examine yourself to see where you are in the faith in this hour.

You'll need to look no farther than your tongue and your letters.
