I was given an assignment today by John Neuhaus. He called and left a message, telling me to do a devotion on Psalm 101 as the word of the Lord for this year.

John is a silent member on this list, but he reads everything. I've known him for ten years and he's never given me an assignment before, so I'm very curious to see what the Lord is going to say to me tonight, devotionally and prophetically, as it relates to this psalm.

The first thing to say about the Psalms is that there is an uncanny relationship between many events in the 20th century and the Psalm that corresponds to any particular year. I'll not go into the details, but there are many big events that correlate between the Psalm number and the year of the event.

J.R. Church wrote a book, about a decade ago, called "Hidden Prophecies In The Psalms". I thought it was quite good. So, let us begin to look at Psalm 101, as Apostle Neuhaus has directed us to do in a devotional way.

"I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart." Verses 1 and 2

When I read these words, I am reminded that my Lord does not wish for any man or woman to enter hell. He prefers that mercy triumph over judgement. Everywhere, I am hearing that there is a new release...a new focus on praise and worship to Christ..a new focus on Jesus Christ himself as our all...our salvation, just since the first of the year. We in this group are not alone in trumpeting this. We sing our worship to our God, and we hope to bring it to him from a heart of integrity. Yes, integrity is emphasized here and it fits what we have seen in our country during the inauguration: a new emphasis on personal integrity in government. And yet, we know that we must focus on Jesus to bring forth this integrity.

"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me. I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath a high look and a proud heart will not I suffer." Verses 3, 4 and 5

The emphasis here is upon the things that most deeply effect the soul. The eye is the window of the soul and if your eye be dark, how great is the darkness within you. Relationships are also spoken about here. I have had to make hard choices at the head of this year about relationships with certain people. I had to sever a few, and I believe that they were separations unto advancement, as Doug Fortune prophesied on January 3. Just think about the irony of what we are hearing now, leaking out of Washington. There was a literal smut attack, pornography left behind by Clinton/Gore White house staffers. I was told that in the past, Christmas trees in the White House were decorated with various sex toys and devices and other lewd and vile objects. Now, this administration and their servants of the vile have been swept from power. It is a new year and a new millenium, and we here, at Watchmen- Prophets-Assembly, are a new work for a new millenium. We are dedicated, in fact we are steadfastly intent to avoid frowardness (continual oppostion and contentiousness). We seek to dwell and minister to one another with peace and respect, and without any slander. Lord Jesus, help us and empower us.

"Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me. He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all the wicked doers from the city of the LORD." Verses 6 to end.

This year was marked by a gathering together: a gathering for us of those who have been faithful to stand with and for Jesus, and against all pretenders to salvation. Works, torah, law and Sabbath are good things, but they have no power to save. And so, we have chosen to gather, in such a way that our eyes are now upon the faithful. We seek to dwell with Christ: to abide with Him daily. And then, the psalmist closes with his personal directions to me: how I am to acquit myself of my responsibilities in my position of moderator here, which is in effect, a position of pastor to a church of prophets, intercessors, watchmen and servants and yes, even an apostle or two.

The psalmist, as well as the Holy Spirit, directs me to require truth and to banish deceit. I am not to allow them to dwell in our house. I am not to allow the kind of wild contention that we have seen in other places on the net. We are to dwell together in peace. We are to know those who labor among us.

The body of Christ is changing: can you see it? God is networking people together of like anointings from all around this globe. We are no longer restricted by geographic barriers. The Tower of Babel was constructed under a sound biblical principal, but with an idolatrous motive.

"And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."

What the city of Babel was barred from attaining to has been reserved for the city of God. We will pray for and endeavor to protect the unity of the faith that has been developing here. The love of the brethren is sweet.

"For some say, his letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing. Such people should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present." 2 Corinthians 10:10

And so, in the first 25 days of the year of our Lord 2001, we have already seen all the marks of Psalm 101. The psalm begins with singing and ends speaking of the city of our God. We will enter the latter, doing the former. And we will focus on Jesus in this year. Oh when wilt thou come to me, the psalmist asks? Come this year Lord, in your church oh Lord.
