Dear WPA and Others:

"And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

Paul wrote this to the church of Corinth, reminding them of their beginning. It was a humble, uncomplicated beginning for a church that, by that time, had become anything but humble and uncomplicated. Paul was a wise man, and we need wise men, today, who will do the very same thing.

Tonight, I'm pondering on this day in my life, and the things that I have confronted. I have had to consider one who calls himself apostolic, yet urges men to cast aside their Berean habits and follow revelation that will not always line up with the word of God. I've read another article by another "Apostle" who writes expectantly of the arrival of the "many membered man", the manifest son's of God, and instructs people that it is foolish to look for an antichrist who will take his seat in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.

Oh, and there is more: I've had to explain the biblical reasons why I do not agree with certain church practices and beliefs that restrict lay, untrained, or inelegantly dressed believers from ascending a church platform to address a congregation. I've had a discussion at length, with my own pastor, discussing the nuances of an apostle or prophet holding himself out boldly as such, and when it may not be wise to do so in our culture. This has been a very full day.

So many people are concerned with so many things. They want to know so much. One lady asked me to explain how it is that a pastor can remarry after he is divorced, because certain churches where she comes from preach that he is forbidden to do so.

At the end of such a day, I feel as Paul did I think, after leaving Athens with no great success in hand. I will focus on Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I could tell you of my call as a prophet or as an apostle, but to what end? If you are not intimately acquainted with my master Jesus, what good is it if I teach you about the prophetic future of America?

What do we see today? There is so much teaching about so many technical details. Do this and don't do that! Where is the teaching about intimacy with the master? I fear that many whom I speak with lack intimacy with my master, though they seek to know so much about Him and about what He is preparing to do in the Earth.

I'm going to share some intimate things that my Lord and master does with me and for me.

Sometimes, He wakes me up, in the middle of the night, and speaks a scripture to me, using the digital clock behind my head as part of the method to deliver the message;

He has reminded me at times of something I needed to pick up at the grocery store;

He reminds me to pick up one of my daughters after school when I'm absorbed in work;

He reminded me on Tuesday to call my Father in Illinois, and it turned out that my Dad had just gotten back home from the hospital not fifteen minutes earlier;

He used me to lead a young lady to Christ two weeks ago, and just last Sunday, allowed me to have the very same vision she had received during our meeting, and to confirm it to her, so that she was not left with the impression that she was losing her mind. This encouraged her greatly.

This is the kind of wonderful master and Lord I have. My Lord Jesus! He is involved in every single aspect of my life. He is my life! I cannot imagine living one day without hearing His voice. The help He gives is appreciated, the counsel is vital, the encouragement is wonderful.

I hope and pray tonight, that all of you who read this know my Lord Jesus in the same, intimate way that I do. Are you acquainted with His love, His very real love and care for you and do you know that He is concerned about all the small details of your life that you care about?

As we consider doctrine, and recognize false apostles, and feret out divine mysteries, it seems a good and apt time to ponder the awesomeness of my Jesus. Lord, please fan the flame of my passion for you to new levels. Help those who walk with me to know you more intimately. Help us Lord to never lose sight of what is REALLY important: knowing You!

"I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil; and thou has tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love." (Revelation 2:2-4)

Never forget the one you love!
