Dear WPA and Others:

This word came from the Lord, through me, at Harvest Fellowship last night:

Psalm 37:1-7
"Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass."

1 Peter 4:12-19
"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that ,when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part, he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator."

After reading these words, I remarked to the congregation that Psalm 37 begins in verse 1 with fret not and repeats it in verse 7. In 1 Peter, we are told to rejoice in these situation, yet how difficult that can be. How many times do we fail on this count? We ask for God's forgiveness where we have grumbled and complained as we have suffered. Many times, we have suffered at our own hand, and still other times, we have suffered for Christ's sake.

Yes, this is not my harvest. I am not suffering now or in trial. Neither are those servants of God who are gathered around me. We have had our days of trial. I understand them now, as I understand their purpose. I did not understand them when I was in the midst of them. Scars run up and down our backs where the furrows have been dug deeply in the past. We have been wounded deeply BY THE LORD. He purposes to use us greatly in this hour. We view ourselves, and still see tares in our lives, yet, nevertheless, the LORD has said that He will use as and accept our service. We stand by faith!

The Lord has said that His present harvest has begun: judgement in the house of God. It will be felt most keenly by ministers at first. The sword is swinging. Ministers of God are becoming spiritually blind and deaf. Look around! You can see it and hear it now. The famine has begun.

What ought our attitude to be?

Romans 11
"And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee."

Then, soon, very soon, the trouble will begin. Many whom God will bring to us will need what God has placed within us in that hour. They will need leadership. They will need the company of those who have reached God in times of personal calamity, and who have prevailed. We will truly, in that hour, be able to disciple many. Until "that day" comes, we must humble ourselves in the sight of the LORD, for the Master of the vineyard is near, yes very near.
