TODAY'S WORD I Have A Dream. It is something I would like to participate in before I die, but I cannot do it by myself. I need much help from my friends. I would like to spend one month of my Christian life, here on the Earth, doing this thing, before I leave this Earth. I would like to see this happen in every church, everywhere, but I would be very excited if I could participate in this in even one church, for one month, or 30 days. Two churches participating in this would be fantastic. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if this thing spread, and became a wave of outpouring of the Holy Spirit, from church to church, and from city to city, and State to State? If I were the pastor of Harvest Fellowship, or Buenas Noticias De Fe, or any other pastor who reads these words over the internet, and I had the slightest leading of the Holy Spirit that the time for this might be right, this is what I would do: Phase 1) Monday, May 17th, 2004 to Wednesday, May 26th, 2004- TWENTY MEETINGS I would call for meetings of the church, in the church building. These meetings would be held at 6 A.M, and 7 P.M.: two meetings per day for ten days. Yes, that is twenty meetings in ten days. The purpose for these meetings would be to fast, and to pray before the Lord. We can share from the word of God, and sing praises to God and prophesy and repent. It is very important that as many people as possible attend these prayer meetings twice per day. We will be asking the Lord to do for us what He did in 33 A.D., in that upper room, on the Jewish Holiday of Shavuot, which we also call Pentecost. We will do everything we can to get into unity. We should ask forgiveness of the Lord, and of each other, wherever we sense any leading to do so. We should, by whatever means necessary, come into one accord. Phase 2) Wednesday, May 26th, 2004 (Shavuot, or Pentecost)-THE TWENTIETH MEETING This will be the tenth day of our twice per day tarrying meetings. By the end of the twentieth meeting, we will see if we all agree that God has filled us with His Holy Spirit, and with boldness to be witnesses. If we do not agree, then we will continue on with the meetings, but if not, then we will commence Phase 3. Phase 3) May 27th (or later, if necessary), and each night thereafter for at least 20 days-NIGHTLY OUTDOOR MEETINGS I propose that we begin to hold outdoor meetings at a very public location, where there is a lot of foot traffic. Here in Hollywood, Florida, I propose that we meet at 7 P.M., at Garfield Street, on the Hollywood Boardwalk, under the covered pavillions. If those sites are full, we will move to some other nearby location where we may gather, and be heard, and hear ourselves. For these 20 days, we will not go back into our church buildings. We will meet outdoors, every day, at 7 P.M., from Thursday, May 27th, 2004, to Tuesday, June 15th, 2004. We will preach the goodness of this Christian life, offer testimonies of God’s goodness, preach repentance, heal the sick, cast out devils and lead people to faith in Jesus Christ. Whenever anyone confesses their willingness to repent in these meetings, and to receive Christ, we will proceed, at the end of the meeting, to baptize them in the Atlantic Ocean. Right there, during and following these hopefully nightly baptisms in water, we will pray that the Holy Spirit will baptize these new converts in the Holy Spirit. Phase 4) Thursday, May 27th, 2004 to Tuesday, June 15th, 2004-DAILY HOME MEETINGS Seven of the leading families in the church will each select a day, where their homes are open to all visitors. I, Stephen L. Bening, volunteer to take Monday as the day when our house will be open to all visitors for either of these churches where I serve. On each of these seven days, through the end of the twenty day period on June 15th, we will open our homes to all who wish to meet. We will serve food and beverages in our homes. We will be available to pray, to minister, to teach, to answer questions, in our homes, on those days. But, the primary focus will be on fellowship, and there should be no sermons or formal teaching. Any teaching should be informal, as around the dinner table, and should allow for interruptions for the answering of questions. Phase 5) Wednesday, June 16th, 2004 and thereafter???????? We will then have to decide how much of this new format we wish to follow for the second month following “our pentecost”. Whatever we do, we should do it by mutual agreement. Just how many days we should return to our church building should also be by mutual agreement. One month: Thirty days! I believe this is the way the bible shows that it should be done. This is the bible form for church growth. I have been in the church for seventeen years, and I have not seen this done yet. No, not even for one week, let alone for one month. I would like to see it before I die, but no one person can do it alone. We need the church. Only the church can do this thing. I wonder what God would do if we would take thirty days out of our lives and do this thing? I wonder? Blessings, Stephen L.
